**Thoughts on photography (weddings in particular)...

With the level of saturation via the Media over the last decade or so, I believe that a lot of photographers have forgotten (or worse still, never realised) what Wedding Photography is actually supposed to be about.

How many Websites/Blogs/Magazines have you read containing quotes such as: "turn even your wedding day into a fashion shoot"; "style is very much documentary-driven"; "prefers to take a step back"; "(not find) any posed or clichéd shots"; "not direct you in any way"?

Whatever happened to your Wedding being the most Important Day of Your Life and it also being an important Family Occasion? Yes, you want a beautiful pictorial record of the Occasion - but do you really want it to be turned into a Fashion Shoot? Do you really think those all too important shots just magically happen by chance?

There are some excellent Documentary style wedding photographers around, but sadly the term is all too often used to cover either a lack of photographic training and experience or the ability to handle people correctly.

How do they cope on a real, typical English wedding - especially during a dark, wet and windy winters' day with 100 or 200 people that are not interested in what they are trying to do?

How many photographers do not/will not show photos of Family Groups?

They are still important pictures to many people and they do not have to be "incredibly boring". If you have all spent a small fortune on this event, shouldn't the photos reflect that even down to the smaller details?

Photoshop et al!...... Almost in alliance with previous remarks, I will not rely on computer software as a matter of course. "Photoshopping" of some images is available to the Client at their request - it is not applied to any or all images as a matter of routine.
